Treatment Modalities

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) The focus is on teaching youth and/or their parents' specific skills. CBT differs from other therapy approaches by focusing on the ways a child or adolescent's thoughts, emotions and behaviors are interconnected, and how they impact one another. Because emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are linked, CBT approaches allow for therapist to intervene at various points in the cycle.

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) DBT Combines cognitive and behavioral therapy, incorporating methodologies from various practices including mindfulness techniques. DBT enhances behavioral capabilities and improves motivation to change.

Motivation Interviewing (MI)- An evidence-based approach to behavior change. MI is a collaborative, goal- oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person's own reasons for change withing an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)- acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility means contracting the present moment fully as a conscious human being, and based on what the situation affords, changing or persisting in behaviors in the service of chosen balues.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy- Mindfulness allows individuals to fully experience the present, non-judgmentally and effectively.

Substance use/ Misuse Prevention Science- Prevention of Substance Use and Mental Disorders Prevention and early intervention strategies can reduce the impact of substance use and mental disorders. Prevention activities work to educate and support individuals and communities to prevent the use and misuse of drugs and the development of substance use disorders.
